Deadline is Monday to enter to win Elton John tickets

Posted 7:30am on Tuesday, Sep. 21, 2010

If you see us strutting around in extra large round sunglasses, top hats and frilly boas, you must pardon our giddiness: it’s not often Cowtown lands a pop icon like Elton John.

But, Captain Fantastic is indeed headed our way: Elton John and veteran singer-songwriter Leon Russell are playing the Fort Worth Convention Center on Nov. 13. (Russell co-wrote songs with Elton and Bernie Taupin for The Union, which was produced by Fort Worth-raised producer T-Bone Burnett and will hit stores Oct. 19.)

Tickets, which go on sale Monday, are going from $53-$172.

But guess what, honky cats? We’ve got some free tickets we’d love to share.

For a chance to win, here’s what ya do: E-mail us at tickets@dfw.com, and tell us which Elton John song (or character) best describes you, and why. Do you, for instance, have pretty eyes and a pirate’s smile? Do you wear your war wound like a crown, à la Levon? Are you a bitch, and are you back? Tell us do.

Please include your full name, daytime phone number and a valid e-mail address. Be sure to put “Elton John” in the subject line so your entry will be eligible.

Deadline to enter is 10 a.m. Oct. 4. One entry per e-mail address, please. You must live in the DFW area to win; employees of McClatchy Co. are not eligible.

Hey there. or join DFW.com. Your account. Log out.
