With the start of their 50th anniversary season a week away, America's Team opened the doors to its newest Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop in Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth. Fans began to arrive shortly after its 10 a.m. opening and browsed through items such as shot glasses, magnets, key chains, calendars, magazines, pennants and watches. There is even an entire wall of hats.

The crowd inside the sparkling new store was as diverse as the Cowboys fan base itself. Several people seemed as if they had stumbled upon the store opening, while one particular TCU fan held court to anyone who would listen about how many Oregon St. fans he thought were in town staying at the Worthington. He was quick to point out that TCU fans did not have to stay at hotels for the Cowboys Classic because they could just drive from their homes. I can't describe how enlightend I felt at that breaking news! The more he ranted to an audience of no one, it appeared as if his voice began to amplify throughout downtown and into the neighboring Texas Rangers Team Shop. His chatter actually rose to supersonic levels as several Oregon St. fans entered the store.

As I pretended to hear the Jeopardy! music in my head trying to drown him out, I glanced at all of the Cowboys merchandise including jerseys for Miles Austin, Tony Romo, Roy Williams, Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware and rookie Dez Bryant. If you want a cool Cowboys gift for your girlfriend, may I suggest the pink Tony Romo replica jersey? Other merchandise included TCU T-shirts with the Cowboys Classic logo, and tons of Super Bowl XLV memorabilia, from T-shirts to bumper stickers and even car flags.

The store began to fill up in anticipation of the main attraction of this grand opening: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders who were set to appear from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. When cheerleaders Jordan Baum and Lauren Williams arrived, they headed to the back to change into their DCC outfits, and the line started to form before heading out onto the sidewalk. They signed DCC team photos and took pictures with Cowboys fans.

With the AFC champions set to stay down Houston St. at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel and ESPN broadcasting in the Chisholm Trail parking lot and staying at the Worthington, this location should be an ideal fit for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans (even if they can drive to Cowboys Stadium from their house).
