Surveying our ecletic arts scene, from the galleries to the stage.

See what's coming in visual arts this fall

Posted 2:06pm on Thursday, Sep. 02, 2010

The museum and gallery offerings for fall are a rich tapestry of ancient, international and contemporary arts.

Already open are the Kimbell Art Museum's "Fiery Pool: The Maya and the Mythic Sea," and the Dallas Museum of Art's "African Masks: The Art of Disguise" -- two stellar exhibits that present exquisite artifacts from exotic cultures.

Equally anticipated are shows opening this month -- the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth's large retrospective of the work of Fort Worth-based artist Vernon Fisher and the Nasher Sculpture Center's display of the works of El Paso sculptor James Magee.

Here's a look at the local visual-arts scene through December.
