It all began in a huge ballroom at the Hilton Anatole, as 261 girls showed up with the dream of performing in front of 20,000 fanatic followers of the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center. (Read about it here) But only a select few survived the process to become the 2010 Dallas Mavericks Dancers. (Check out the photo gallery here)
The 36 girls who survived the weekend went through a week-long training camp that began with them learning three brand new routines on Monday evening. Each night they had to practice for a solid two hours. The girls also had to do extensive interviews with Mavs Dancers director Mallory Mills and multiple front office staff talking about why they wanted to be a Mavs Dancer and how they planned to handle the rigorous schedule (appearances, practices, games, etc.). The job is a lot more than just showing up for 40-50 nights a year and dancing for the crowd. These girls have to work hard after they have earned this opportunity.
The 2010 Dallas Mavericks Dancers are:
Jenna Gillund, Whitney Foster, Kim Gordon, Paige Jones, Ashley Wade, Rachael Harpe, Carly White, Kenley Minchew, Casie Bullock, Paula Tabares, Sequel Molina, Paige Phillips, Emily Morales, Jenna Zmolik, Camille Thompson, Lauren Castillo, Lauren Gibler, Bonnie Ohlig, Helen McDaniel and Natsuki Kaito.
The Dallas Mavericks season begins in October.
