Lovin' the roof-top patio at Houston St. Bar

Posted 10:10pm on Monday, Jul. 05, 2010

Our favorite place to hang out in Fort Worth on a nice summer Thursday evening is Houston St. Bar & Patio. When you first walk inside, you are greeted with tons of sports memoribillia, especially from the '90s Dallas Cowboys dynasty days. The street level is a cool place to grab a drink and watch a Texas Rangers game, but to really turn up the fun, may I suggest the Roof Top Bar. Walk toward the back of the bar and look for the winding staircase on the left that takes you up the patio.

Once you get upstairs, it's as if you are in a chill spot in a major metropolitan area. There is a view down below to the south downtown area, but for the most part, you are surrounded by buildings, lending to the big city feel. There are plenty of places to lounge and relax and really soak in the unique atmosphere that Houston St. Bar & Patio offers.I particularly enjoy the huge projection screens (makes me look forward to coming here during football season). And don't forget the water pipe that REALLY resembles a stripper pole.

Thursday nights they have a plethora of drink specials including $3 Mexican beers (i.e. Corona, Corona Light, Dos Equis, Tecate, etc.), $2.50 Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors Light and $3 Wells. It is also "open-mike night" with the band Molleys Trolley.

The BIGGEST reason we chose this as the night to visit downtown Fort Worth is because of our very favorite bartender in all of DFW, Emilie, is there every Thursday. My buddies and I always argue over which celebrity she looks like the most, with the basic consensus coming to Alyssa Milano. And I mean the sultry Alyssa Milano from Poison Ivy II, not Samantha from Who's the Boss. Don't believe me? What else do you really have to do on a Thursday night?
