The Dallas Chop House has only been open since New Year's Eve, but it's already establishing itself as a hot spot in downtown.
We didn't get the generic "Reservations?" greeting, but were met warmly and escorted back to the really cool bar area that had a flat screen TV showing the Masters in crystal clear HD. The thing that took my attention away from the golf was the Chop House's amazing patio. It features a fire-pit in the center with plenty of comfortable seating and a great view across to the Main St. Garden park. The restaurant has already been designated as Dallas' Best Outdoor Dining by Open Table.
Located in the heart of downtown, on the first floor of the Comerica Bank tower, the bar and restaurant attract a mix of people -- plenty of high-powered businessmen and beautiful women. Happy Hour runs from 4-7 daily and specials include half-priced glasses of wine.
After we ordered our food, the manager Steve Occhipinti came by to chat. It made me feel like a celebrity. My steak was pretty awesome, too. Dry-aged and "succulent."
The Dallas Chop House is a new power player in Big D, and a great place to bring a date to hang out on the patio. DALLAS CHOP HOUSE, 1717 Main St. (Inside Comerica Bank Tower), Dallas. Call 214-736-7300.
