Perhaps no ribbon of highway has been made famous in more songs celebrating America and Americana than Route 66. Now the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, led by its principal pops conductor, Ron Spigelman, will offer a concert that traces, in song, that meandering strip of asphalt. The concert will not only celebrate Route 66's two urban poles of Chicago and Los Angeles, but also will make tuneful references to the land and inhabitants of such states as, among others, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, California and, of course, Texas. Listen for such classics as St. Louis Blues, songs from the musicals Oklahoma! and Chicago, and ( Get Your Kicks On) Route 66. And, finally, don't miss tribute artist Kraig Parker, delivering Elvis Presley songs referencing Route 66's Las Vegas.
