Opera isn't known for being kid-friendly, but the Fort Worth Opera wants to change that perception. Just in time for spring break, the opera offers two fun, easy-to-enjoy productions that are perfect for kids and families.

Monday's opera: The Three Little Pigs, a comical adaptation of the familiar fairy tale. This operatic twist on a well-worn plot features music from famous operas by Mozart; it's designed for kids in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. It's in English and lasts about 45 minutes, and the performance is followed by a Q&A session about opera. Our favorite part: The wolf is named Wolfgang Bigbad.

If you can't make it Monday, the opera presents Billy Goats Gruff at the Scott Theatre on March 19. It, too, is a short and fun opera for school-age kids based on a familiar story. Performance times and ticket prices are the same as those for The Three Little Pigs.
