Rev up the green beer machine for St. Paddy's Day

Posted 5:15pm on Monday, Mar. 08, 2010

Green beer causes people to do outlandish things. At least that's what we're counting on as St. Patrick's Day approaches. Here are enough highlights to make sure your hangover lasts until Easter.

Saturday

The 31st Annual Greenville Ave St. Patrick's Day Parade is billed by as the Mardi Gras of Dallas. Thousands gather along a two-mile stretch of Greenville Ave. for floats, crazy costumes and general debauchery. The fun begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, rain or shine. If you have never experienced the shenanigans, you must. But beware that parking is VERY limited. The best option is to ride DART. A list of stations is available at www.dart.org. The Granada Theater will have live music all day, first with free live reggae early, followed by Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights playing in the afternoon show ($3.50)and Soul Hat ($17) performing in the evening show.
