The Art Galleries at TCU are pitching a triple-header tonight. Nate Glaspie opens his MFA thesis show at Moudy Art Gallery at 6 p.m.
One hour later, the Fort Worth Contemporary Arts gallery opens a show of short films by British artist Liam Gillick and various collaborators. This is the big event; Gillick is the multihyphenate sculptor, industrial designer, installation artist, creator of public art projects, composer of film scores, theoretical writer and videographer who teaches in New York City, works in London and shows in the major European capitals. "I'm still a foreigner in America. I'm someone who's bringing nuanced stories from somewhere else that will always be harder to take. But I'm at least given the space here to articulate some of these things," he was quoted in a Museum of Modern Art catalog.
The evening ends with a one-night-only exhibit of work by five artists, organized by Noah Simblist and Subtext Projects. The show, at 2525 Weisenberger St., Fort Worth, is 8-10 p.m. All events are free.
