With a whiskey-and-cinders voice and formidable songwriting chops, singer-songwriter Carlile has racked up plenty of fans, of the famous and not-so-famous variety.
For her latest record, Give Up the Ghost, she recruited one of her more well-known proponents, Elton John (he contributes piano and backing vocals to the track Caroline).
Although this latest record hasn't had quite the impact of her 2007 T Bone Burnett-produced breakthrough, The Story, the tune Dreams is starting to pop up with regularity in TV commercials.
