Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra
Nine Grammys and a Pulitzer. Yeah, we guess Wynton Marsalis has a bit of talent. (That Pulitzer was for Blood on the Fields, his 1997 oratorio on slavery). And his backup band is no slouch, either. They'll all perform as part of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Pops Series.

The Jitterbug Vipers with 'Reefer Madness' screening
2 Arts Fifth Avenue offers up a Saturday evening of offbeat fun, starting with a screening of the 1936 cult classic, Reefer Madness. Then the evening turns swingadelic, as Slim Richey and the Jitterbug Vipers take the stage. Think bluesy, gypsy jazz with an upright bass and a Billie Holiday-meets-Nina Simone vocal vibe. Make reservations; they're expecting a sellout. Call 817-923-9500 for reservations.

'Fiddler on the Roof'
We adore Harvey Fierstein and his S.O.S. Pad voice. But before we see him take on the role of Tevye, we're gonna need to shake off our favorite drag images of him. (Broadway's Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, and his moving, Tony-winning work as a drag performer in Torch Song Trilogy.) So for this Performing Arts Fort Worth and Casa Mañana presentation, we're shaking off the drag and remembering that Fierstein played the role in the 2004 revival. And now we're ready to bidi-bidi-bum.
When: Tuesday through March 14. (7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays; 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; 7 p.m. Sundays.

'La Llorona, a Love Story'
7 This Amphibian Productions presentation offers a modern twist on the conquest of Mexico, through the tale of an American executive whose company assigns him to open an American fast-food restaurant -- for Mexican food -- in Mexico. When he and his wife (and their Mexican landlords) are visited by a spirit called La Llorona, the love, superstition and cultural misunderstanding ensue. (Kind of like a Three's Company episode, but not.)

Where: Sanders Theatre, Fort Worth Community Arts Center
Cost: $15 students; $25 adults

'Cannibal! The Musical'
9 This warped play comes from the mind of South Park co-creator Trey Parker. Based on his 1993 film, it loosely tells the life story of Alferd Packer, a 19th-century American prospector who was accused of cannibalism. Sounds like a great show to sink your teeth into.

'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'
10 You might have guessed that this tome comes from Seth Grahame-Smith, the same guy who brought us the Jane Austen mash-up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. If you're thinking "Enough with this gimmicky premise!" (oh, look who's waging war on the undead now!), consider what Vanity Fair said about the book, out this week: "It's not just the Lincoln biography we've all been waiting for. It's also the funniest, most action-packed and weirdly well-researched account of the Civil War you'll probably read in a long time."
When: on bookshelves now
Cost: $22
The New Collection
