Night Shift

Your VIP pass to DFW’s nightlife, sports & party scene.

Game on! It's an East vs. West DFW nightclub all-star matchup

How will you spend Valentine's Day?
Posted 12:30pm on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010

In 2010, the NBA All-Star Game came to Cowboys Stadium, and officially mading DFW the epicenter of the party universe. It was a terrific dress rehearsal for the 2011 Super Bowl in Arlington, which arrives Feb. 6.

We got into the All-Star spirit back then by picking our very own East and West All-Stars: The nightclub edition.

The East Squad was made up of anything east of Cowboys Stadium. The Western all-stars came from Cowtown mostly. Whichever direction you head, East or West, one thing is a certain: There are plenty of options for every kind of club-hopper.

The starting five

PM Nightlife Lounge

One of the hottest spots in Dallas, inside the Joule Hotel, PM always has The Beautiful People of DFW. Named the "Best Lounge in Dallas" by playboy.com, the downtown lounge has an intimate setting and an exclusive vibe that lends to its glamorous reputation as the "King of Dallas' nightlife."

Towering above Dallas on the 33rd floor of the W Hotel across from Victory Plaza, this place has some of the best views -- spectacular panoramic vistas of Dallas, and enough eye candy to send you into sugar shock. Make sure to step out onto the glass balcony and look straight down. You'll feel like Superman hovering above the city.

Deux at Mockingbird Station

This Vegas-style lounge is a new kid on the block (it's actually hidden behind Trinity Hall and the Angelika in Mockingbird Station). But because Deux is a cool place, some of the most beautiful girls in Dallas have found it. It is much more of a lounge than a club, complete with amazing chandeliers and a nice VIP room.

This uptown hot spot has got one of the toughest velvet ropes in town, which makes the girl-to-guy ratio awesome for guys -- if they can get in. The decor is very modern and the music is thumping, but it's not too loud to hold a conversation.

The progressive urban lounge has stood the test of time and outlasted so many other club/lounges that have opened hot and quickly cooled off. Its prime location (walking distance from The Porch, Victor Tango's and Cuba Libre) help make this a mainstay of Dallas nightlife. It's still the place to be on Wednesday nights.

AMPM Lounge:ampmdallas.comNot to be confused with PM Lounge, AMPM resides in the ultra-trendy Mosaic building in downtown Dallas. AMPM is actually a restaurant and lounge with a menu that features everything from steaks to lobster tacos. It also hosts lots of big events including The Jason Terry Show on ESPN Radio.

Ocean Primedallas.ocean-prime.comLocated in Uptown in Rosewood Court, this is without a doubt the place to be during happy hour. It has a patio terrace, a piano bar and a cocktail lounge to go with its restaurant. More importantly, it's packed with beautiful women.

Barcadiawww.barcadiadallas.comKnown for its array of old-school video games like Ms. Pac Man, Dig Dug, Centipede, even Skee Ball, this "Chuck E. Cheese for Adults" is a perfect place to pre-game. Be forewarned: This place is so much fun that you may not want to leave!

The Ranch At Las Colinaswww.theranchlc.comThe Ranch is a great place to hang out and hear live music on the covered patio, called "The Porch." Las Colinas attracts a lot of beautiful women, and this is one of the best places to spot them. All-Star it reminds us of: Paul Pierce. He doesn't get the headlines that LeBron and Kobe do, but he can be unstoppable.

Glass Cactuswww.glasscactusnightclub.comThe Glass Cactus is a huge nightclub that sits on Lake Grapevine behind the massive Gaylord Texan Resort. It has live music and multiple bars, which makes getting drinks a lot easier, and the view from the balcony is amazing.

The starting five

Tucked in the basement of The Tower, Vice brings a little Dallas flare and exclusivity to downtown Fort Worth. Not to mention the bottle service. If you are looking for the most beautiful people in Fort Worth, this hot spot is a great place to start.

Fat Daddy's

Fat Daddy's is another great place in downtown Fort Worth, only a few wobbly steps from Vice. It's hard to tell from outside, but this place is huge, stretching an entire block on Taylor Street. Open since May, it still has that new club feel with lots of flat-screens, comfy couches, bottle service and a covered patio. They also have plenty of bars and a big dance floor. Oh, and did I mention the hot waitresses?

Capital Bar

Nestled between all the growth on West Seventh Street and the museum district on Morton Street, the Capital bar is an amazing rooftop hangout that is usually filled with TCU hotties. Its views of Fort Worth aren't bad, either.

Billy Bob's Texas

The world's largest honky-tonk has live country concerts, tons of bars, arcades, a huge dance floor and a rodeo arena. It's also the definition of "Everything's Bigger in Texas." This is a must-see spot for anyone who comes to the city Where the West Begins.

V Lounge @ Eddie V's

Eddie V's is a great place to eat steak and seafood. And the V Lounge is a great place to see and be seen, with live music seven nights a week.

Grace When I go to Grace, on Main Street in downtown Fort Worth, I make a beeline for the really cool bar area, which includes a patio full of comfortable seating. With its modern American food and great scene, this is always high on the list of places to go in Fort Worth.

Pour HouseThe Pour House moved from downtown to West Seventh Street, and the new location has much better TVs, a lot more space and the same good food and great scene.

8.0This cornerstone of Sundance Square nightlife always feels fresh, especially when the weather is nice and the crowds gather on the massive patio. I also enjoy hanging out inside, even though it can get really crowded. Crowds are good when the girls are hot!

Sherlock's Baker St. Pub/Lincoln Square The Sherlock's in Lincoln Square is much bigger than its sibling on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. It's a great spot to hang out and enjoy some drink specials and a bit of north Arlington eye candy. My buddies and I often meet here before a Rangers game and on more than one occasion, we never made it to the Ballpark.

Boomer Jack's Grill & BarThe Bedford location has a huge patio that is usually full of TVs and hot girls. For a relaxing chill night, this centrally located hot spot is just right. All-Star it reminds us of: Chris Paul. When healthy (which is not now), the New Orleans Hornet's point guard is one of the most electrifying players in the NBA. He can score and dish with anyone in the league.
