A heaping helping of news & reviews from DFW’s dining scene.
Ever wonder where local celebs hang out on Valentine's Day? More than a few of them prefer to stay in. City Councilman Joel Burns, for one, enjoys having friends over for a dinner party instead of dealing with restaurants on the busiest night of the year. But when pressed for their fave romantic spots, they offered up these suggestions:
Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner: "[My wife Tiffany and I] go to Bob's Steak and Chophouse." This year, though, they'll be at the NBA All-Star Game.
Pat Green, country crooner: Pat spends a lot of time eating in restaurants while on the road, so when he's home, he usually prefers to eat in. According to wife Kori, though, there are a couple of V-Day possibilities: "If we go on a date, we make it to Grady's and Grace the most."
Deborah Ferguson, NBC5 morning anchor and Steve Lamb, WBAP sportscaster: "Every Friday night is date night for us," Deborah explains. "We tend to end up at, in alphabetical order, Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine, Del Frisco's, Grady's, Lili's Bistro, Nonna Tata and -- for that really special occasion -- Old Hickory Steakhouse at the Gaylord."
Randy Galloway, Star-Telegram columnist and ESPN Radio host: When they're staying at their Arlington home, Randy and wife Janeen opt for dinner at Olenjack's Grille and Al's Hamburgers, among other favorites. When staying at their getaway house in Aledo, they head to a humble cafe called Mac and Harry's.
Pam and Billy Minick, part-owners, Billy Bob's Texas: "We've gone to Del Frisco's and Classic Cafe [for Valentine's in the past]," says Pam. "This year it might be a trip to the Denton Country Club. It is definitely a special day."
Chance Morgan, vocalist/guitarist of The Burning Hotels: "Valentine's Day is my birthday, so I usually get the choice of where to dine. I love a good steak, so Eddie V's or Silver Fox would be at the top of my list."
