Your VIP pass to DFWs nightlife, sports & party scene.
Just a few precious blocks away from the location that the venerable 7th Street Theatre called home (that is the current location of Museum Place and Eddie V's), a brand new seven-screen masterpiece has now opened.
After traveling up three separate escalators of the new Movie Tavern and passing by huge posters of King Kong and Dick Tracy, we arrived into the huge lobby, which has the box office and a really cool bar area. I was able to get a little taste of Monday Night Football on their flat screens while we grabbed a drink before the start of our movie. A few sample drink titles: "Casablanca Cosmos" and Titanic Tea."
Once inside the auditorium, I was able to relax in my plush black leather seat and when we were ready to order food off the menu, we simply pushed a red button and a waiter seamlessly appeared like John Turturro in Mr. Deeds. The lights went down and we enjoyed 2 1/2 hours of tsunamis, earthquakes, and lots of stuff exploding in 2012 in picture-perfect digital projection.
After the movie, we returned to the bar. I was able to see the end of the Dallas Mavericks' overtime victory over the Bucks via a buzzer beater from Dirk Nowitzki. The bartender also mentioned that they show Cowboys games on the big screen in its own theater. I will definitely have to check that scene out in the very near future.
