Get a crash course on holiday entertaining at Ellerbe

The market shelves at Ellerbe are stocked for the holidays.

If you’re looking for quick, easy solutions in the holiday hosting arena, you should drop by Ellerbe Fine Foods in Fort Worth between 6 and 8 on Thursday evening. That’s when owner-chef Molly McCook, owner Richard King and special events chief Lea Lewis will host an open house geared toward getting you ready for instant entertaining at home.

King will be pouring a number of wines that the restaurant will offer through the remainder of the year. You can buy those in the restaurant’s market area, along with several appetizer goodies that McCook will prepare for sampling. The market’s inventory includes dips, salsas, jams and olive oils; several of these items are in the $3-$7 range, with a few higher-end oils commanding slightly more. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Javataza custom coffee blends from the local (Grandview) roaster.

And should you need help specifically with Thanksgiving dinner, Ellerbe will do everything but roast your turkey: Available in 4-serving portions, McCook will make cornbread dressing, butternut squash-Gruyere bread pudding, candied sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, broccoli-rice casserole, wild rice with roasted butternut squash, creamed spinach, pineapple-citrus-cranberry relish and much more, including pecan pie to serve 8 to 12 people. Most prices range from $8-$18; add $10 if you want the food delivered – which Ellerbe will do, even on Thanksgiving Day. Order by Nov. 21 at 871-926-3663.
