Fort Worth's latest Movie Tavern gets ready to open

Posted 5:15pm on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009

If you’ve driven through the So7 development just west of downtown Fort Worth, you’re probably wondering when the heck that snazzy looking Movie Tavern is going to open. According to the marketing folks at the theater, the grand opening is set for the weekend of Nov. 13 to 15. Look for radio station remotes, giveaways galore, and a even tarot card reader on site. (Will she predict the Oscars?) The big new movie that weekend will be 2012, in which director Roland Emmerich finds yet another new way to bring about the end of the world onscreen.

This theater is part of a chain rapidly expanding nationwide, whose very first location was the Ridgmar Movie Tavern here in Cowtown. This new theater will be part of the Movie Tavern’s “premier” line of theaters, which means you get in theater wait-service and an expanded menu. There are seven screens, all digital, at least two of which will have 3-D capability. There will also be individual chairs and chairs and stadium-style seating — so none of those annoying chairs-on-rollers like the Movie Tavern in Arlington.

Oh, and if you can’t wait until the 13th, you might want to swing by a week earlier, when the theater hopes to do a soft launch with three of the seven screens operational.
