My buddy Eric proudly proclaimed that he had tried everything but two items on the extensive menu at his favorite place, The Ranch at Las Colinas. (That is until they recently expanded the menu.)
I previously visited this really cool spot off of Hwy 114 and MacArthur back in may during HP Byron Nelson week and hung out on the large, covered patio area. When I was there, the place was packed with gorgeous girls and had live music, while the NBA and NHL playoffs played on the huge TVs in the background. It was a great scene, though I assumed the only reason it was so crowded was because the PGA Tour was in town. After listening to Eric talk about how great their food is, I decided that it was imperative that I make another visit. Walking in past the giant dinner fork out in the front garden, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the scene was just as energetic on a regular Friday night.
The Ranch strikes a nice balance: It manages to feel upscale, but it maintains a laid back Texas vibe. One of my favorite things about the place is how many Texas items are used in the food and drinks. (Particular props to the 10.2.4 BBQ Ribs, which come with a Dublin Dr Pepper sauce.) Our waitress Meagan was on top of her game. Great food, service, and atmosphere and all in the middle of a strip center. I plan to be back soon to help Eric in his quest to conquer the remainder of the menu.
