A $29 party pass to Cowboys stadium: Priceless

Posted 5:03pm on Thursday, Sep. 03, 2009

"There's nothing like this stadium anywhere in this country and maybe anywhere else," Fox Sports' Joe Buck said on the national telecast of the opening game at Cowboys Stadium. But most people watching at home were probably thinking, "Yep, but who can afford it?" Then came word of the $29 "Party Pass," which gives you access to the game and six party decks but no seat. When the 49ers came to Arlington to play the Dallas Cowboys last week, I decided try this standing-room-only ticket. In a word: Awesome!

When my Fox Sports Net television duties were over around 6:30, I made my way into the futuristic coliseum and found a spot on the lower level right behind someone who had paid more than $100 for their seats. I had a great view of the field and the seven-story monster scoreboard/video screen. I was able to see my good friend, Kelsi Reich, and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in crystal clear HD better than if I was on the sideline with them.

The true fun of watching the game via the Party Pass may well have been watching the fans, or better yet, "Dallas Cowboys: The Nightclub."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones likened this party area to the Pavilion at the Byron Nelson PGA Tour event and he was right on the money. It was so much fun watching all the beautiful women in their Cowboys colors that it seemed as if I was at a huge celebration with the game as the live entertainment. The people-watching at many sporting events is good, but Jerry's party decks rival the Ghostbar or Candleroom.

And unlike some of elite nightclubs, it's easy to get an adult beverage at Cowboys stadium.

Sure, you still have to pay for parking, but NFL football for $29 that's pretty sweet. The scene and actually being at Cowboys Stadium? Priceless!
