That's the trailer for Bandslam below, which pretty well sums up the Vanessa Hudgens/Lisa Kudrow flick better than we can (and with pictures too!). To celebrate the Aug. release of the film, Summit Entertainment and DFW.com are looking for the best young bands -- unsigned, natch -- in the Metroplex. If your band of two or more people is just old enough to drink legally or still a few years away from gigging in bars, then we want to hear an original song. To enter our battle of the bands, upload a video of your band performing an original song. Also, send us a MP3 of the original song as well along with contact info and a bit of background about your band. We'll need all this material in to us no later than midnight CST on July 22.
UPDATE: The contest has been extended to midnight on Aug. 2. The event will now be held on Aug. 5.
Our esteemed panel of DFW.com judges will select three finalists from all eligible entries on Aug. 3 and notify the lucky bands. On Aug. 5, those finalists will meet up at Ridgmar Mall prior to a screening of Bandslam to discover which band will perform before the film. To win a prize package that includes a meeting with a local producer, an American Express gift card and 30 free CDs from F.Y.E., the competing bands will also have to impress the Burning Hotels. We'll be on hand to document the whole shebang. Good luck!
