We're looking for model pets. Emphasis on the word "model."
If your dog, cat, canary, moose, iguana, piranha or whatever is truly something special, you could win the chance to see your little friend on the cover of a July issue of DFW.com Ink Edition.
What makes a model pet? Maybe she’s the smartest pet in town. Maybe he’s the snuggliest. Maybe dear old Fido has done some truly heroic things in the past, like call 911 while you were choking on a chicken bone. Whatever the reason, we want to hear what makes your cuddly creature a model pet.
There are two ways to enter: (1) E-mail a photo of your pet along with your contact information and a description of why you think your animal is DFW’s most model pet to jmetz@dfw.com. Essays must be fewer than 250 words. Please include the phrase "Model Pet Contest" in the subject line, or your entry will be lost. Or (2) Upload a video of your pet, in all its amazingness, by clicking on the "Submit Your Own Media" link at dfw.com/videos. When you're finished, be sure to send an e-mail with the phrase "Model Pet Video" to jmetz@dfw.com with the name of your video and how we can contact you.
The grand-prize winner's pet will appear on the cover of dfw.com Ink Edition magazine, and the winner will receive a framed print of the cover, courtesy of House of Frames in Fort Worth. A few lucky runners-up will get to see their pets featured in a photo spread in that issue.
Deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. July 6. Employees of the McClatchy company are not eligible. Participants must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
