The Polyphonic Spree's big cheese, Tim DeLaughter, blogged on Wednesday about the various goings-on in his doubtless rainbow-hued world. Of primary interest -- aside from plugging the band's revamped MySpace page -- was the news that the Spree have finally extricated themselves from the Orchard Group label and the collapsed TVT Records, which imploded last year (but not before releasing the Spree's third album, The Fragile Army).
"We are now back on our own label (Good Records), where we started from in the first place in the year 2000, with the release of The Beginning Stages of ...," writes DeLaughter. "So, this now means we have come full circle. What a 'long and strange trip that was.' Thanks to all those labels who were brave enough to harbor such a project; your efforts were appreciated. (Except for TVT ... although I can't say we weren't warned.)"
Additionally, DeLaughter revealed that he began songwriting on May 12, in that he's hoping to "complete a song a day, instead of bits and pieces of ideas." He's toying with the idea of sharing "snip-its of the bare bones of the songs (just me and acoustic)" before bringing in the full band. Sounds good to me.
