Posted 2:38pm on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009

As if there weren't enough reasons already to attend our Oscar Watching party at The Modern -- co-sponsored by DFW.com, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Lone Star Film Society -- here's another enticement: If you come, you can win a private screening of the new Miramax release Adventureland, starring Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale and Kristen Stewart (Twilight).

We'll be giving away a wide array of prizes throughout the evening, including DVDs, tickets to events at Bass Hall, passes to this year's Lone Star Film Festival, and more.

But our grand prize allows you to and twenty-five of your friends to come to the Modern for a private advance screening, on Wednesday March 25, of Adventureland, which just premiered to raves at Sundance. The evening will be hosted by DFW.com Christopher Kelly, who will host a private coffee reception for your group prior to the showing.

The details of how to win will be revealed during the party. (Hint: You're going to need to successfully predict the winner of the Best Cinematography Oscar, so start doing your research now.)

Admission is to the party free. To reserve a spot at the party, email or call (817) 840-2154; auditoriumprograms@themodern.org

The Schedule:

6 pm: Doors open. Walk the red carpet, where the paparazzi’s flashbulbs will be popping. DFW.com’s style gurus John Metz and Sonya Cisneros will let you know if you’re a fashion hit or runway roadkill.

6:45 pm: Star-Telegram and DFW.com film critic Christopher Kelly talks about the year in film and takes your questions.

7 pm: The Oscar telecast begins. The telecast will be aired via satellite in the Modern’s auditorium.
