Best Beer Selection
The Flying Saucer, Fort Worth and Addison
With more than 250 beers to choose from, The Flying Saucer has something for everyone.
Find it: 111 E. Fourth St., Fort Worth. 817-336-PINT. 14999 Montfort Dr., Addison. 972-934-Ales. www.beerknurd.com.
The drinks: There are more than 250 different beers to choose from, which should satisfy everyone from the beer scholar to the novice.
Make sure you visit the place on Mondays, when most pints are $2.75, or on Wednesdays, when you can keep the glass.
Two stories and an outdoor patio leave plenty of room for those who want quiet conversation along with those who will be singing along with the band on weekend nights. The crowd is appealingly diverse: It’s business suits and biker chicks with anyone and everyone in between. And even the food isn’t half-bad for pub grub. (Remember to ask your server about the day’s cheese and beer pairings).
Don't go away without also trying: Blackthorn Cider from Great Britain. If beer isn’t your thing, consider this sharp-tasting apple cider that happens to have a very high alcohol content.
Get inducted into the ring of honor: Sample every beer and have your name immortalized in the “Ring of Honor” -- gold plates on the walls that honor the heartiest boozers ever to set foot inside the place. (And don’t think you’re name is the only thing you can have engraved on your plate – one reads, “Why does my best friend drink Michelob Ultra?”)
Honorable mention: The Ginger Man, locations in Dallas and Fort Worth.
