Sound Files: Grammy Awards Edition (Feb. 4)

AUDIO: Our Jonas Brothers-hating pop music experts predict the Grammy winners.

They churn our critics' stomachs, but Ryan and Preston agree that the Jonas Brothers are likely to pick up Best New Artist at the Grammys.

DFW.com blogs the 2009 Grammys

Lil' Wayne has eight nominations, but will be lucky to make it up to the stage. Coldplay has seven, but the band's potential sweep could be derailed by Alison Krauss & Robert Plant. And what's up with TV on the Radio getting shut out of the Alternative Album category? The Sound Files guys address these subjects and more in their special podcast devoted to Sunday's Grammy Awards.

Segment One: Best New Artist
And the nominees are: Adele; Duffy; The Jonas Brothers; Lady Antebellum; Jazmine Sullivan
Preston loves Adele, while Ryan is fond of Duffy. But will the not-so-loved JoBros win the prize?

Segment Two: Song of the Year
And the nominees are: American Boy, Estelle Featuring Kanye West; Chasing Pavements, Adele; I'm Yours, Jason Mraz; Love Song, Sara Bareilles; Viva La Vida, Coldplay
A possible Coldplay sweep starts here, but don't dismiss the lovely Estelle.

Segment Three: Best Alternative Album
And the nominees are: Beck, Modern Guilt; Death Cab For Cutie, Narrow Stairs; Gnarls Barkley, The Odd Couple; My Morning Jacket, Evil Urges; Radiohead, In Rainbows
It's hard to argue against Radiohead -- even if TV on the Radio should have gotten the nod.

Segment Four: Record of the Year
And the nominees are: Adele, Chasing Pavements; Coldplay, Viva La Vida; Leona Lewis, Bleeding Love; M.I.A., Paper Planes; Robert Plant and Alison Kraus, Please Read The Letter
Could M.I.A. ride an awards-season, Slumdog Millionaire-inspired wave to victory?

Segment Five: Album of the Year
And the nominees are: Alison Krauss & Robert Plant Raising Sand; Coldplay, Viva La Vida; Ne-Yo, Year Of The Gentleman; Lil Wayne, Tha Carter III; Radiohead, In Rainbows
Conventional wisdom says Coldplay, but can aging Grammy voters possibly resist Plant & Krauss?
