Nielsen Media Research's weekly report on how prime-time shows fared in Top 10 markets came in earlier this afternoon, but I'm just now getting a chance to get a look at it. I don't always post on this, but some weeks -- such as the week of June 22-28, the one in question here -- are more interesting than others.
In Dallas, the Wednesday edition of America's Got Talent came in first among viewers 2 and over. No surprise there. (It's important to note that TV stations tend to concentrate not on "2-plus" ratings such as these, but household ratings and demographic breakdowns such as 18- to 49-year-olds and 25- to 54-year-olds.)
Tied for No. 2 was the Tuesday episode of Univision's telenovela Manana es Para Siempre, which is an impressive showing -- Spanish-language shows often make the Top 30, but seldom do they rank this high. Manana's other four episodes last week also landed in the Top 30.
The other No. 2 program was Sunday's BET Awards, which got a boost from all the Michael Jackson tributes this year.
NCIS was the highest-ranking rerun, with the CBS drama tying for fifth. NBC's new drama The Philanthropist did well in DFW, with its premiere coming it at No. 9 for the week.
ABC News' special coverage of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett's deaths Thursday came in seventh, the best showing of the Big Three networks, all of which did special reports. Jon & Kate Plus 8's special episode in which they announced their separation placed higher than usual, tying for 17th.
