Best Authentic Asian

Tu Hai, Haltom City

Best Authentic Asian

DFW.com

The fried beef over vermicelli and spring rolls are just two of the authetic delights at the divey but delicious Tu Hai.

Find it: 3909 Belknap St., Haltom City; 817-834-6473

The dish: If you’re sick of pan-Asian places that pander to the timid palate by dumbing down exotic flavors, please point your car toward this little dive that’s wedged between pawn shops and check-cashing joints on a dingy strip in Haltom City. This tidy shop offers exceptional pho, as well as shrimp-and-pork spring rolls with no equal. Best of all is the grilled pork vermicelli, which you’ll dream about until you return for another bowl.

Don't wander away without also trying: For the unadventurous member of your group, the lemongrass chicken with rice is a good, tame but still authentic dish. The lemonade is fabulous, too.

"Best of all is the grilled pork vermicelli, which you’ll dream about until you return for another bowl."

You should know: This is a cash-only operation.

Honorable mentions: Chuan, Fort Worth; First Chinese BBQ, Arlington; Yao Fuzi, Plano
