You can judge the quality of the year in movies by the titles that didn't make a critic's top 10 list. With such an embarrassment of riches on offer in 2010, I couldn't find room here for Danny Boyle's mountain-climbing adventure 127 Hours, the sparkling teen comedy

Last year, when I did my top 10 list for 2009, I also listed a lot of honorable mentions. I didn't realize how many -- 20 -- till an online editor gently chided me about it. What can I say. Last year was a good year for TV, and it carried over into this year -- but not all the way. Read more

If we asked you to pay $25 for a ticket to see one of Hollywood's latest releases, you would probably put up an argument: Surely there's another theater nearby that only charges $8 or $9. For that matter, you could wait a few months and rent the very same movie from a Redbox for a buck. Read more
