Jewel (with special guest Holly Williams)

The conversational, whispered tones of popular folk-pop singer Jewel will get even more low-key when she comes to Fort Worth for an acoustic performance. Putting an accent on intimacy, Jewel is expected to draw heavily from her latest CD, Lullaby, in addition to her first pure country album, 2008’s Perfectly Clear, which topped the Billboard country album charts. Jewel takes the Bass stage — for the first time ever — at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15. $30-$58. 817-212-4280; www.basshall.com.

Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth presents 'Barn Dance Boogie’

The creative troupe members from Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth will mark their 20th season with a series of performances seemingly equal parts dance and music. Teaming with the musical ensemble Sloan Automatic, the dancers from CD/FW will present a program titled Barn Dance Boogie — and it will include a treat for any able-and-willing audience members. At intermission, they will be invited to join the dancers in a freestyle performance of the Funky Chicken. All the serious dancing fun begins at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14, at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth (in the Small Exhibits Building, also known as the Poultry Barn). $8-$15. 817-922-0944; www.cdfw.org.
