Trio brings superlatives to Arts Fifth Avenue
David Olney with Richard Dobson and Sergio Webb
With David Olney billed by some critics as a "pioneer of the Americana music scene," Richard Dobson being known as the "Hemingway of country music," and Texas-born guitarist Sergio Webb having already turned heads in Nashville with his playing, this trio seems poised to give a highly charged country-rock, folk-blues show.
8 p.m. Friday at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628 Fifth Ave., Fort Worth $15. 817-923-9500; www.artsfifthavenue.org.
Chanticleer
Its name may be derived from a certain warbling rooster from Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, but this San Francisco vocal ensemble sounds like the most melodic of songbirds when offering its lushly orchestral versions of jazz, gospel and Renaissance music.
7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bass Hall, Fort Worth. $5-$35. 817-212-4280; www.basshall.com.
Faculty Chamber Music Recital
Classical pianist Jessica Koebbe is a member of the Texas Wesleyan University School of Music faculty, yet she will bring a strikingly nonacademic, lyrical approach as the lead performer at this evening recital.
7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Hall, Texas Wesleyan University campus, Fort Worth. Free. 817-531-4992; www.txwes.edu/music.
