Doobie Brothers to play Bass Hall
If ever a classic rock band defined writing and singing infectious, driving-with-the-top-down music, it was the Doobie Brothers. Their string of early to mid-1970s hits, led by Long Train Runnin’, China Grove and Listen to the Music, were shot through with biker-bar, youthful abandon. And then, with equally memorable effect, the group shifted gears to produce the swampy atmosphere of Black Water and the spirited pop-romance of What a Fool Believes and Take Me In Your Arms. It has been a bit more than five years since the Doobies were last at Bass Hall, and this concert, with others, helps mark the band’s almost 40 years as one of classic rock’s best.
