Local arts groups officials offer fall-season highlights

Fall arts season musts: Cliburn winner Nobuyuki Tsujii, Sweeney Todd and Before Night Falls.

September means the start of the new season for many of the local performing-arts organizations.

We asked their leaders to tell us which one highlight of the season they were most looking forward to — an event that simply should not be missed.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

"We are thrilled to welcome Midori back to Fort Worth to perform with our wonderful orchestra," Koonsman says. "Her artistry, passion and commitment to music education for the next generation are exceptional."

"There are many reasons why our Otello is a must-see performance," Pell says, "but foremost must be that it will be the first opera production in the new Winspear Opera House in the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. This long-awaited new home for the Dallas Opera will be state of the art. Otello is regarded by many as Verdi’s greatest opera and will be seen in a new production created especially for the opening."
