They put some people in a quiet state of intensive thought and emotional transcendence. And they put others to sleep. But nevertheless, it's a fact that the art exhibits we get to enjoy here in DFW are an essential cornerstone of what makes North Texas a world-renowned travel destination, and an enriching place to live.

Picking the best from the best is a hard task, and that's why I'm grateful somebody else did it: Star-Telegram art and design critic Gaile Robinson. She and I sat down to chat about which art exhibits made 2008 distinct and special, and what North Texas museum-goers long to see. And she was kind enough to offer a glimpse at her Top 10 list of the best art exhibits of 2008, which will be revealed in full on Dec. 29 in the Star-Telegram and here at DFW.com.

Our chat is broken into six short chapters, each about 2 to 3 minutes long. To listen, click the play button on the audio player above. And share what you thought of this year's art offerings, or of DFW's art scene in general, or of whatever strikes your fancy, in the comments field below.
