Wine and dine at Lanny's, Wildcatter Ranch

Wine and food you should be planning to devour starts with Thursday night’s Oregon wines dinner at Lanny’s Alta Cocina Mexicana. Lanny Lancarte II will whip up a five-course thriller to pair with lovely pours from Alex Sokol Blosser, a vineyard in the spectacular Willamette Valley. Among dishes will be seared yellowtail with Granny Smith apples and Serrano chiles, paired with a sparkling Evolution; butter-poached lobster with sweet corn and Mexican vanilla, to go with a 2008 pinot gris; and prime tenderloin and foie gras with chipotle brown butter gnocchi, matched with a Dundee Hills 2006 pinot noir. You don’t want to miss this one. It promises to be worth the $95 price tag.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Wildcatter Ranch Steakhouse in Graham is hosting a Fall Wine Dinner. Chef “Bob the Cook” Bratcher, inspired by a recent trip to Napa, will prepare diver scallops with applewood-smoked bacon and artisan cheeses for an appetizer, paired with Geyser Peak sauvignon blanc; crawfish-crab bisque, paired with Firestone Vineyard chardonnay; honey and soy-glazed lamb chop, paired with Paraiso pinot noir; beef tenderloin with apple-brie potatoes and wild mushroom cream sauce, paired with Verasion Synchony; and cappuccino crème brulee for dessert. Dana Shrick from Weatherford will present the California wines. It starts at 7 p.m. and costs $100, all-inclusive. Plan to stay over in one of the ranch lodgings.
