Best Looking Staff
Wine Loft, Southlake
There are good wine choices at this Southlake hotspot, but we like the, um, atmosphere.
Find it: 1512 E. Southlake Blvd in Southlake Town Square; 800-306-8680; www.thewineloft.net
The dish: Meet Kayla, a hot young thing who works hard at this new gathering spot in Southlake Town Square. She zips up and down the stairs countless times each hour, scooting from the bar with trays of big goblets of wine to couples and groups of loudly chattering girlfriends perched on comfy leather couches on the second floor. She doesn’t lose her cool, even when someone asks for yet another glass of iced water, and her little black dress is truly to die for. But let’s just say that owners Rickey Dudley and Michael Peck, who came to the wine bar business from the pro sports world and are also easy on the eyes, didn’t hire this dark-haired, cheery beauty for her wine acumen. And nobody really seems to mind, because, while there are good wine choices on the list, it’s really not about the wine here, if you catch our drift.
Don't wander away without also trying: The charcuterie board and the cheese plate are far better than they have to be. Chef Joanne Irizarry, stuck back in the kitchen, knows what she’s doing.
You should know: This is a classy joint, dude, so there’s a dress code. Meaning, no ratty jeans and please take that stupid Blue Tooth thing out of your ear.
Honorable mentions: Central 214, Dallas; 8.0, Fort Worth
