Toughest Booking (But Overrated)

Lonesome Dove, Fort Worth

Toughest Booking (But Overrated)

DFW.com

It's still tricky to snag a table at this Fort Worth staple, but some diners are saying you aren't missing much.

Find it: 2406 N. Main St., Fort Worth; 817-740-8810; www.lonesomedovebistro.com

The dish: There was a time when this stylish western bistro in the Stockyards historic district was the hottest game in town, with its only real competition coming from Del Frisco’s and Reata, where Lonesome Dove owner-chef Tim Love first worked when he hit town. It’s still the only fine-dining choice in its neighborhood, but complaints continue about service being either aloof or nearly absent, which diners dropping more than $50 per person won’t tolerate. Reservations have been a mess also, with many customers complaining about booking well in advance -- and then having to wait an hour past their appointed time to be seated.

Don't wander away without also trying: Should you be seated, sate your palate with the signature garlic-stuffed beef tenderloin. It’s one of the dishes on which chef Tim Love built his reputation.

"Complaints continue about service being either aloof or nearly absent."

You should know: Parking in the Stockyards is at a premium on weekends, so prepare to valet.
