Best Bakery Item

Lemon meringue tart, Tart Bakery Boutique & Studio, Dallas

Best Bakery Item

DFW.com

A puckery lemon filling beneath a swirled, browned-at-edges meringue crown makes for the tastiest tart at Tart Bakery Boutique & Studio.

Find it: 5219 West Lovers Lane, Dallas; 469-335-8919; www.tartbakerydallas.com

The dish: This gorgeous spot near the Inwood Theater and handily close to the Dallas North Tollway creates delicacies that would seem to come straight from a fairy tale: They don’t seem real, until you bite into them and taste the vivid flavors and let your tongue mull over the impossibly fine textures. The showstopper is the lemon meringue tart, which features puckery lemon filling beneath a swirled, browned-at-edges meringue crown.

Don't wander away without also trying: Chocolate cupcakes topped with a beehive of sweet cream icing and a scattered of crushed Kit-Kat bars is the living end.

"Taste the vivid flavors and let your tongue mull over the impossibly fine textures."

You should know: You can get it in a mini-tart (3 inches diameter) or a full-size (9 or 12 inches), but then you might have to share.

Honorable mentions: Pink lemonade mini-cupcakes, Cupcake Cottage, Fort Worth; Flourless chocolate torte, Sublime Bakery, Fort Worth
