David Cook

Born in Houston and catapulted to fame by American Idol, rocker David Cook takes his cue from late ’90s heroes like Live and Our Lady Peace: crunchy chords blended with addictive melodies and lyrics that are, if not sappy, certainly flimsy. His self-titled 2008 debut has been declared platinum; the cougars love ’im, and if that weren’t enough, he’s also pals with one of Fort Worth’s recent major-label signees, Green River Ordinance (which will be opening his Dallas show).

6:30 p.m. Sunday. With the Script and Green River Ordinance. Palladium Ballroom, Dallas. $32.50. 800-745-3000; www.ticketmaster.com
