Visitors from the Met

The Amon Carter Museum has made a temporary trade with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Two of the Carter’s paintings, Swimming (1895) by Thomas Eakins and Idle Hours (c.1894) by William Merritt Chase, are wintering in NYC, while Eakins’ The Artist’s Wife and His Setter Dog (1884-89) and Mary Cassatt’s Lydia Crocheting in the Garden at Marly (1880) will be here through Jan. 25. From 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, curator Rebecca Lawton will lecture about these two works and how they relate to the Carter’s permanent collection. The lecture, which is free, will be at the museum, 3501 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. 817-738-1933; www.cartermuseum.org.
