Saturday’s Agenda: Opera live or on the big screen, and a herd of bison lovers comes through

A weekend for opera fans

Local opera lovers, say "Bravo!" Today you can catch another installment of The Met: Live in HD series. The famed opera company takes on Puccini’s Turandot, starring Maria Guleghina, Marcello Giordani, Samuel Ramey and Marina Poplavskaya; conductor Andris Nelsons makes his Met debut. It starts at noon and will last 3 hours, 25 minutes. Catch it at several local theaters, including ones in Burleson, Fort Worth, Grapevine and Dallas; visit www.fathomevents.com for theater information and to buy tickets. Also, the Dallas Opera’s last performance of Verdi’s Otello, its debut opera in the new Winspear Opera House, will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday. For ticket information, visit www.dallasopera.org or call 214-443-1000.

Don’t be buffaloed

The Texas Bison Association is staging its fifth annual Expo today at Stockyards Station in Fort Worth. Whether you are a bison rancher or just plain curious, you can attend seminars on raising bison given by Texas bison-industry exhibitors, see the World Championship Buffalo Burger Challenge and more. And in case you’re about to ask, the association says buffalo and bison are interchangeable. 940-594-1169; www.texas bison.org.
