Tuesday’s agenda: Chanticleer crowing at Bass, and Hollywood coming to Southfork

Something to crow about

Not every group can live down being named for a great literary rooster. Except if you’re Chanticleer, the highly gifted San Francisco classical vocal group whose name is derived from the singing rooster of Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales. Chanticleer’s members have been wowing audiences for 30 years with an uncanny knack of wrapping their voices around lush orchestral renditions of gospel, jazz and even Renaissance music. Small wonder, they are often referred to as the "orchestra of voices." Chanticleer will harmonize at 7:30 tonight at Bass Hall in downtown Fort Worth. Tickets: $5-$35. 817-212-4280; www.basshall.com.

Hollywood does Dallas

Reality-TV casting calls seem to happen in Dallas-Fort Worth every week, and it feels like half the stars on the Disney Channel are from North Texas. But it’s not often that we get traveling talent workshops the size of Hollywood Across America, a showcase designed to discover and encourage new talent. This weekend, the workshop will come to Southfork Ranch, bringing along with it a bunch of agents and casting directors (including people who worked on Heroes, High School Musical, Criminal Minds, Gossip Girl, Days of Our Lives and other TV series). The workshop takes place 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the ranch, 3700 Hodge Drive in Allen (near Parker Road east of U.S. 75), with check-in at 8 a.m.. Registration is $495. 888-429-5585; www.hollywoodacrossamerica.com.
