Cavanaugh will interpret the Piano Man’s hits and share behind-the-scenes anecdotes about working with Joel.

'Bash: Latter-day Plays’ by Neil LaBute
If you enjoy controversial plays that expose the darkly brutal side of human nature, you’re either a sadist, a masochist or a Neil LaBute fan. Or all three. Bash is a collection of three one-act plays (which premiered off-Broadway with Paul Rudd and Calista Flockhart) that looks in on three seemingly ordinary people who reveal shocking, violent secrets from their past. Most of the characters are Mormons — as LaBute was until this play got him kicked out of the club. Presented by Dallas’ Sideman Productions. And if you’re planning on being in Plano, don’t forget to check out No. 11 in the Dirty Dozen.
When: Friday-Oct. 24 (8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday)
Where: Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Ave., Plano
Cost: $15 (cash or check only)

The Dance on Widow’s Row Forget the Real Housewives. This sounds much more fun to us: Four rich widows in a tiny North Carolina town have already buried nine husbands altogether, so when they invite the area’s four most eligible bachelors to an intimate party, tongues will wag. The comedy was written by Samm-Art Williams, who was a producer on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
When: Previews Friday-Sunday and Oct. 22, runs through Nov. 8
Where: Jubilee Theatre, 506 Main St., Fort Worth
Cost: $10-$24

Asian Arts Egg Roll Festival and Health Fair This event should be doubly good for you: Not only will it celebrate Asian cultures, art and food, but it’s also a health fair. So ostensibly, you could be noshing on crab rangoon while your arm is being strapped into a blood-pressure cuff. Works for us.

Where: Traders Village, 2602 Mayfield Drive, Grand Prairie
Cost: Free; parking $3
'Five Guys Named Moe’
A few years before people started turning the works of Abba and Billy Joel into jukebox musicals, Les Misérables producer Cameron Mackintosh put this brilliant idea on stage: a musical based on the hits of jazz great Louis Jordan. Let the good times roll.

Taste of Downtown Plano If you haven’t ventured into historic downtown Plano in a while, here’s a great reason to make the trek. The little downtown strip has been blossoming with new eateries lately, so you can sample them all in one spot. Among those participating: Kelly’s Eastside, Jorg’s Cafe Vienna, Vickery Park, the Fillmore Pub and the new little patio hot spot Urban Crust. (We’ve eaten their pizza, and it’s fabulous.) There will also be vendors and live music, so come east for the feast.
When: Noon-6 p.m. Sunday
Where: E. 15th St., Plano
Cost: $5 entry fee; food tickets $2 apiece
